WE UNDERSTAND
All skin disorders arise from the vitiation of the blood — Raktadushti. Without purifying the blood and restoring Agni, no skin condition can be permanently cured.

ABOUT US

A hospital that treats the root, not just the surface.

Modern dermatology manages skin symptoms through topical steroids, antihistamines, and biologics. Ayurveda asks a different question: why is the blood impure in the first place? At Ishan, every skin and hair patient undergoes a Prakriti assessment and Agni evaluation before treatment begins. This identifies the Dosha imbalance, the gut-skin connection, and the specific Dhatu affected — guiding a personalised protocol of blood-purifying medicines, Panchakarma, and dietary correction that works together to restore lasting skin and hair health.

CONDITIONS WE HEAL

Skin & hair conditions we care for

From autoimmune skin disorders to chronic hair loss, our specialists design Ayurvedic protocols tailored to each condition, its stage, and your constitution.

  • Psoriasis (Kitibha / Ekakushtha)

Chronic autoimmune skin condition causing thick, scaly plaques — most often on elbows, knees, and scalp. Deeply aggravated Pitta-Kapha with blood toxicity. Ayurveda achieves long-term remission.

    Silvery-white scalesItching
  • Eczema & Dermatitis (Vicharchika)

Inflamed, itchy, weeping skin patches — often triggered by allergies, stress, or gut dysbiosis. Recurrent in children and adults. Ayurveda addresses the gut-skin axis to prevent chronic recurrence.

    Intense itchingOozing patches
  • Vitiligo / Leucoderma (Shwitra)

Loss of skin pigmentation in patches due to destruction of melanocytes. Classified as Shwitra in Ayurveda — treated with blood purification, Bakuchi-based formulations, and targeted external therapies to stimulate repigmentation.

    White patchesSpreading patches
  • Hair Loss & Alopecia (Khalitya)

Androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, stress-related hair fall, and postpartum hair loss — all classified under Khalitya and Indralupta in Ayurveda. Treatment targets the Asthi-Majja dhatu axis and scalp micro-circulation.

    Diffuse thinningPatchy hair loss
  • Acne & Pimples (Mukhadushika)

Hormonal, cystic, or chronic acne — caused by elevated Pitta and Kapha disturbing the sebaceous glands. Ayurveda corrects the hormonal imbalance and gut toxicity that drives acne, leaving clear skin without long-term antibiotic use.

    Cystic acneHormonal breakouts
  • Urticaria & Skin Allergies (Sheetapitta)

Hives, chronic allergic rashes, and hypersensitivity skin reactions — classified as Sheetapitta (cold Pitta) in Ayurveda. Treatment desensitises the immune response and strengthens gut barrier function for lasting allergy relief.

OUR APPROACH

How Ayurveda treats skin & hair disorders

Most chronic skin conditions — psoriasis, eczema, vitiligo — share a common Ayurvedic root: impure blood (Dushta Rakta) combined with a weakened digestive fire (Mandagni) that allows metabolic toxins to accumulate and manifest on the skin. Hair loss is approached differently — as a Vata-Pitta disorder of the Asthi Dhatu (bone tissue), since hair health is directly linked to bone and hormonal metabolism.

  1. 1

    Prakriti & Agni Assessment

Every patient begins with a comprehensive constitutional assessment — pulse diagnosis (Nadi Pariksha), skin type analysis, dietary history, and bowel habits — to identify the Dosha imbalance, digestive strength, and stage of disease. Skin disease cannot be cured without first assessing the gut.

  2. 2

    Agni Correction & Internal Medicines

Blood-purifying herbs (Raktashodhak) — Neem, Manjistha, Khadir, Sariva — combined with Agni-kindling formulations begin the process of clearing metabolic toxins from the gut-blood axis. These classical formulations work systemically, unlike topical creams.

  3. 3

    Panchakarma Shodhana

Virechana (therapeutic purgation) is the gold-standard for skin diseases — it purifies the liver and small intestine, the primary seat of blood impurity. Raktamokshana (leech therapy) is used for localised chronic patches. Takradhara cools and soothes inflamed skin deeply.

  4. 4

    External Therapies

Lepa Chikitsa (herbal paste applications), Shirodhara and Shirobhyanga (for hair conditions), Takradhara for scalp, and Abhyanga with medicated oils provide targeted relief and promote tissue repair at the skin surface.

  5. 5

    Rasayana & Diet Maintenance

Rejuvenating formulations (Arogyavardhini Vati, Khadirarishta, Mahamanjisthadi Kashayam), detailed dietary guidelines avoiding Viruddha Ahara (incompatible foods), and lifestyle corrections to sustain skin clarity and prevent relapse.

Ayurvedic root causes

Understanding your skin or hair condition through the Dosha-Dhatu lens allows precise, personalised treatment — not a one-size protocol.

  • Pitta Imbalance

Heat, redness, inflammation, bleeding. Primary dosha in psoriasis, eczema, acne, and urticaria. The liver and blood are the seat of Pitta disturbance.

  • Kapha Imbalance

Thickening, oozing, slow-healing patches. Kapha excess causes the chronicity in psoriasis plaques and seborrheic dermatitis. Weight and diet correction is essential.

  • Vata Imbalance

Dryness, cracking, hair brittleness, premature greying. Vata dominates in hair loss, lichen planus, and dry eczema. Asthi Dhatu nourishment is the primary intervention.

  • Rakta Dhatu (Blood)

Impure blood is the carrier of all skin disease. Without purifying Rakta through Virechana or Raktamokshana, no topical treatment gives lasting results.

Psoriasis — 3 months treatment
I had severe psoriasis on my arms and legs for 6 years. Steroids kept it under control temporarily but it always came back worse. After 3 months of Virechana and internal medicines here, my plaques reduced by over 80%. I am off steroids for the first time.

Hair Loss — 6 weeks treatment
My hair loss was so bad I could see my scalp clearly. I had tried PRP elsewhere — it worked 2 months then stopped. The doctors here found my thyroid and digestion were the real cause. After dietary changes and Shirodhara sessions, my hair started growing back within 6 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Most psoriasis patients notice significant improvement within 6–12 weeks of starting treatment. The timeline depends on severity and duration of the condition, your Prakriti, and compliance with diet and medicines. Virechana Panchakarma accelerates results considerably for moderate-to-severe cases. Mild cases often respond in 4–6 weeks. We set clear, honest expectations at your first consultation based on your specific case.

  • Ayurveda has documented classical treatments for Shwitra (vitiligo) using Bakuchi, Khadir, Manjistha, and Virechana. Results vary — areas with active follicles and newer patches respond better. Many patients achieve partial or significant repigmentation. Complete cure is more achievable in early-stage vitiligo. We assess each case individually and do not make blanket promises — but we have a strong track record in cases that were years old.

  • No — do not abruptly stop any prescribed medicines, especially topical or oral steroids. Sudden steroid withdrawal can cause severe rebound flares. Our doctors will create a gradual tapering plan that runs parallel with Ayurvedic treatment, allowing you to safely reduce and eventually discontinue conventional medicines as your condition stabilises. We always coordinate with your existing treatment, never against it.

  • OPD consultations and investigations may be covered under policies that include OPD benefits. IPD Panchakarma stays for conditions like severe alopecia or psoriasis are covered under policies with Ayurvedic hospitalisation coverage. We are empanelled with 40+ insurers including CGHS. Our insurance desk will verify your specific policy coverage before treatment begins — at no charge.

  • Yes — dietary compliance is critical for skin conditions in Ayurveda. Viruddha Ahara (incompatible food combinations such as fish with milk, sour foods with dairy) and Pitta-aggravating foods (fermented foods, excessive sour/spicy foods, nightshades) are considered primary causes of skin disease. Your doctor will give you a detailed, practical dietary plan specific to your condition — not a generic list.

  • OPD treatment involves outpatient consultations, internal medicines, and simple external therapies — suitable for mild-to-moderate conditions. IPD Panchakarma is an admitted programme (typically 7–21 days) where intensive procedures like Virechana or Raktamokshana are performed under continuous medical supervision. IPD gives faster, more powerful results for chronic or severe conditions. Ishan is a NABH-accredited 100-bed hospital with dedicated Panchakarma IPD rooms.
